"20 meters of love in Montmartre", short film. Follow us this summer !

"20 meters of love in Montmartre" is a 5' film who shows 4 women unknown to each other. Soon, they will find a secret connection between them, through their hearts and through their arts...

The film has just been screened at the "F3" festival (Frederick, Maryland), will be part of the "Small Wonders" exhibition in Hamtramck (Michigan) on the 11st of July, then at the "Cinema Povero" festival in Ispra (Italy) on the 18th. Time to make a (brief) pause, and the film will join the wonderful "Middlecoast Festival" in Bloomington (Indiana) on the 18th of August...

Don't miss it...

The first american presentation of the film took place at the Trenton Film Festival a few months ago, so we thought it'd be a good idea to reveal the presentation text written by the director for that occasion...

What inspired you to become a filmmaker?

When I was 20, I entered University while hosting a radio program in Toulouse, South of France. Soon, I realized that radio was a tool to communicate with people with whom I could be shy in real life. Then I discovered cinema, which was a step up, above radio, in terms of communicating. By making images, I could connect with the external world and share my dreams (woken or not...), my optimism and my way of seing life...

What made you decide to make this film ?

I'm fascinated by big cities (Paris, where I live, among others) where, if you forget the boiling mood, you can watch, notice, people who follow their own path, almost silently. In a way, you can get more "lost" or alone in a megalopolis than in a village. I thought it could be interesting to show 4 women, unknown to each other, in a "sacred" (and very touristic...) place like the "Sacré Cœur  in Montmartre... I imagined those 4 women secretly connected, and find a clue, a bond that link them... In the film, it's their visages, their faces, but also their art : drawing, filming, photographing...

What do you hope audiences hope to gain from watching your film?

I don't know how audiences will react to a 4 minutes without a word :) Even if the success of "The Artist" (in 2012) showed it was not impossible :) What I'd really enjoy is that even men could relate to these 4 women. That they could understand the inner feeling of the characters. In "Love and other drugs" (by Edward Zwick), a bitter/sweet comedy that I like a lot, I'm stunned by a moment where Anne Hathaway's character says to Jake Gyllenhal's : "Who are you after all ?". And he doesn't answer and we go directly to the next sequence... Amazing... In "20 meters of love in Montmartre", nothing is said, but in some tiny little things (a hand, a smile, a silhouette on top of the stairs), you can experiment both beauty and melancoly... That's what I hope Trenton's audience will feel too...

Do you have an future projects that you are working on? If so what are they?
Yes, many. First, I'm currently re-editing my previous film ("The Dolphin skin city") which has traveled well (Australia, Nevada, Europe) but that we'd like (with my producer) show a little more. It's the story of an architect obsessed with a project where cities' walls and buildings will be curved and less rigid. On the very same day, he attends a congress to speak about that, and he meets a florist who changes his life... It's "big world" versus "personal world"...

Then I should start to write a long feature film with a simple plot : a random encounter between a man and a woman on a highway...
